The TENACITy project, an EU-funded project under the Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Programme (Grant Agreement No 101074048), has kicked off following a meeting of the consortium in Athens, Greece on the 21st and 22nd of September 2022. The project aims to develop innovative and effective tools for the exploitation of travel intelligence data by law enforcement authorities (LEAs); and to develop an interoperable open architecture for the integration and analysis of multiple transactional, historical and behavioural data from a variety of sources. The project also plans to provide training and sensitisation of LEAs’ personnel and to pioneer a holistic approach to crime prevention through the development of a Travel Intelligence Governance Framework that will incorporate a holistic approach to crime prevention. TENACITy will create important exploitation possibilities for its participants, and in the travel security field more broadly, by creating effective technologies that can be adopted and operationalised by relevant stakeholders.
LUH is part of the project consortium through the Institute for Legal Informatics (IRI) and will contribute to the project in the areas of legal and ethical framework. Among other things, IRI will be responsible for analysing the EU and national rules applicable to the domain, particularly as it relates to fundamental rights, privacy and data protection, and ethics. The project will last for three years and will produce several deliverables and policy recommendations for the stakeholders. Visit the project website for more information.
