iRing - eLECTURE SERIES
In this year's winter term, the e-learning team started the pilot project "iRing - eLECTURE SERIES". For the first time in it's 25 years of existence, the IRI offers a series of online lectures using an innovative virtual classroom software. The topics presented cover various legal issues of IT- and IP law.

In October, Christine Kirchberger from the Swedish Law & Informatics Research Institute of Stockholm University delivered the first lecture on "E-Prediction of court decisions - legal and practical challenges". A second presentation was given by Julia Hoernle from the Queen Mary University of London, who gave a topical presentation about "Regulation of cross-border Online-Gambling".
Both lectures were well attended with more than 20 people in aggregrate taking part in person at the Institute's library or via their home computers. The subsequent evaluation amongst the participants has also shown promising positive results. The project, which is still in its testing phase, will therefore continue and such technology shall also be applied in other contexts whenever possible.
