Learning in a digital environment

From 14th-17th September, the e-learning team at the IRI visited the conference "E-Learning 2009 - Lernen im Digitalen Zeitalter" ("learning in the digital age") at the Freie Universität in Berlin. More than 90 sessions dealt with subjects such as Web 2.0, electronic examination, virtual classrooms and video-lectures.

During the pre-conference, Prof. Dr. Forgó, Martin Sebastian HaaseChristian Hawellek and Christian Krökel ran a workshop entitled "Concepts of e-learning in legal teaching" where visualisations in legal education were discussed. A number of e-learning elements planned and implemented at the Institute were shown and examples of best practise at other higher educational institutions were also discussed. A special presentation was given at the workshop by Marcelo Corrales who discussed the future of education with the participants from his office in Hannover, using the   latest virtual classroom software.

The second workshop, given by Prof. Dr. Forgó and Daniel Sokolov from  the University of Vienna dealt with legal issues in the e-learning-context. It focused in particular on questions of copyright, data protection and liability issues.
